Residents and home owners argue over Tahoe Township's vacation properties' future.

It's no longer a secret that the rise in short-term rentals — and opulent projects — is drastically changing Tahoe's pastoral setting. The Tahoe Township Vacation Home Rental (VHR) program, an ordinance that permits locals to rent out their homes to tourists visiting the area, was up for discussion during a meeting of the Board of County Commissioners of Douglas County on October 13 at the Hard Rock Hotel in Nevada.
